Introduction
Project Media Zone is a Bronx-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing community media production education. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information when you visit projectmediazone.org, sign up for updates, donate, or take part in our programs.
Information We Collect
- Contact details you give us, such as your name, email address, mobile phone number and mailing address, when you fill out a form, register for a program or event, volunteer, or donate.
- Donation details. Payments are processed by our payment providers; we do not store full card numbers.
- Website usage information, such as pages visited, browser type and IP address, collected through cookies and similar tools.
How We Use Your Information
- To run our programs, workshops and events
- To send updates you asked for by email or text message

Text Messaging (SMS)
If you opt in to receive text messages from Project Media Zone, we collect your mobile phone number and the date, time and method of your consent. We use this information only to send the messages you agreed to receive, such as program updates, event reminders, volunteer coordination and donation appeals. Message frequency varies, up to 4 messages per month. Message and data rates may apply.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
We share your number with our SMS service provider (Twilio) solely to deliver messages. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END or QUIT). Sharing Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate, such as website hosting, email, payment processing and text messaging, and only as needed to provide those services. We may also disclose information when required by law.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices
- Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any email.
- Stop text messages at any time by replying STOP.
- Ask us to access, correct or delete your information by emailing gwilliams@projectmediazone.org.
Children’s Privacy
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information online. Information about youth program participants is collected from a parent or guardian.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
